Module 2 · Prompting as a working skill Lesson 6 of 15
Iterating: the second prompt is the real one
The first answer is a draft, not a verdict. Saying what is wrong with it — too long, too generic, missing the number — is a specific skill, and it is where most people give up and decide the tool is bad.
Worked example
"Shorter, remove the phrase passionate about, and add the specific project I mentioned" produces a usable second draft. "No, try again" produces a third draft of the same thing.
Your practice task
Take one output through five rounds of specific feedback and save both the prompt chain and the final result.
Do this before moving on. Reading a solution teaches the shape of it; typing it teaches you.
Key takeaway
The first answer is a draft, not a verdict. Saying what is wrong with it — too long, too generic, missing the number — is a specific skill, and it is where most people give up and decide the tool is bad.
