Module 3 · Building something you can show Lesson 8 of 15
Grounding answers in your own documents
When the answer must be traceable, you supply the text and ask the model to answer only from it — and to say "not in the document" when it is not there. That instruction is what stops the invention.
Worked example
"Answer only from the text below. If the answer is not there, reply NOT FOUND and nothing else." One sentence, and a summariser becomes something you can rely on for a client document.
Your practice task
Try it on a document with a question whose answer is deliberately absent, and confirm the NOT FOUND reply.
Do this before moving on. Reading a solution teaches the shape of it; typing it teaches you.
Key takeaway
When the answer must be traceable, you supply the text and ask the model to answer only from it — and to say "not in the document" when it is not there. That instruction is what stops the invention.
