Module 2 · The tools and the writing Lesson 6 of 15
Difficult customers and the escalation that is not a failure
Stay on facts, acknowledge the feeling once, offer what you can actually do, and state what you cannot. Repeating a policy louder does not work on anyone.
Worked example
Escalating to a supervisor with a clear one-paragraph summary is a professional move. Escalating because the conversation got uncomfortable, with no summary, hands the problem to somebody with less context than you have.
Your practice task
Rehearse three difficult scenarios out loud and write the one-paragraph escalation summary for the hardest.
Do this before moving on. Reading a solution teaches the shape of it; typing it teaches you.
Key takeaway
Stay on facts, acknowledge the feeling once, offer what you can actually do, and state what you cannot. Repeating a policy louder does not work on anyone.
