Module 4 · The group discussion and the panel Lesson 10 of 15
The group discussion: entering and building
In a group discussion you are scored on whether you move the conversation forward, not on how much you say. Enter once with a clear point, then build on somebody else rather than repeating them.
Worked example
"Building on what Priya said about costs - the cheaper option also takes longer, so it may not be cheaper overall" adds a new idea instead of restating hers.
Your practice task
Practise three entry lines and three build-on lines out loud, and record yourself once.
Do this before moving on. Reading a solution teaches the shape of it; typing it teaches you.
Key takeaway
In a group discussion you are scored on whether you move the conversation forward, not on how much you say. Enter once with a clear point, then build on somebody else rather than repeating them.
