Module 2 ยท SQL โ asking the database directly Lesson 4 of 15
SELECT, WHERE, ORDER BY
The first four words of SQL. SELECT chooses columns, WHERE filters rows, ORDER BY sorts them, LIMIT caps the output.
Worked example
SELECT name, city FROM candidates WHERE city = 'Hyderabad' ORDER BY name LIMIT 10 โ a small query that answers a real question.
Your practice task
Write five queries against a table of your own, each answering a question in plain English that you write down first.
Do this before moving on. Reading a solution teaches the shape of it; typing it teaches you.
Key takeaway
The first four words of SQL. SELECT chooses columns, WHERE filters rows, ORDER BY sorts them, LIMIT caps the output.
