Module 1 ยท From question to model Lesson 1 of 15
What a business analyst is actually asked
The request is never "build a dashboard". It is "why did returns go up in the North?" โ and the deliverable is an answer, with the numbers as supporting evidence.
Worked example
Starting from the tool and building something pretty is the classic junior mistake: a beautiful dashboard that does not answer the question in the meeting gets rebuilt by somebody else the following week.
Your practice task
Write the exact question, the decision it changes, and the three numbers needed to answer it โ before opening any tool.
Do this before moving on. Reading a solution teaches the shape of it; typing it teaches you.
Key takeaway
The request is never "build a dashboard". It is "why did returns go up in the North?" โ and the deliverable is an answer, with the numbers as supporting evidence.
