What you will learn

  • Build components as functions and compose screens out of them, instead of one huge page file
  • Pass data with props, render lists with keys, and handle conditions without duplicated markup
  • Manage state with useState, including controlled forms that do not lose what the user typed
  • Fetch an API in useEffect and handle the loading, error and empty states a real app needs
  • Route between screens with react-router and deep-link into a detail page
  • Deploy to a free host and write the README that makes the link count as proof

Module 1Components and JSX1 of 53 lessons

Weeks 1โ€“2 โ€” the mental model. Once a screen is a tree of functions, everything else is detail.

  1. A component is just a function

A React component is a function that returns markup. Its name starts with a capital letter, and it returns JSX โ€” HTML that looks like JavaScript because it is.

Example function Card() { return <h3>Hello</h3>; } is a complete component. Everything else in React โ€” state, effects, routing โ€” is a tool you attach to functions like this one.

Practice Take a static page you already have and split it into four components: header, list, list item and footer. Nothing else changes yet.

  2. Props, children and composition

Props are the arguments of a component; children is a special prop holding whatever you put between the tags. Composition โ€” a component that accepts other components โ€” is what keeps a codebase readable.

Example One <Panel title="Fees"> containing different content each time beats three near-identical Panel components. The prop carries the difference; the component carries the shape.

Practice Turn your four components into reusable ones: one Card used in three places with different props, and one Layout that takes children.

  3. Lists, keys and conditional rendering

Rendering a list means mapping an array to components, and React needs a stable key to know which row changed. An index as a key is the classic bug that only shows up when the list reorders.

Example items.map((it) => <Row key={it.id} item={it} />) is correct. key={index} looks identical on screen and produces the wrong row updating once you sort or delete โ€” exactly the defect you do not want to explain in an interview.

Practice Render a list of twenty items, add a delete button on each row, and fix the keys so deleting the second row deletes the second row.

About React & Modern Front-End Development

Build and deploy a real multi-page React application that fetches live data โ€” the piece of work a front-end interview is built on.

Students who already know HTML, CSS and enough JavaScript to write a function and a loop, and who want the framework half of front-end without another twelve-hour video course.

What you will be able to do at the end

  • Build components as functions and compose screens out of them, instead of one huge page file
  • Pass data with props, render lists with keys, and handle conditions without duplicated markup
  • Manage state with useState, including controlled forms that do not lose what the user typed
  • Fetch an API in useEffect and handle the loading, error and empty states a real app needs
  • Route between screens with react-router and deep-link into a detail page
  • Deploy to a free host and write the README that makes the link count as proof

How the course is structured

3 modules and 9 lessons, arranged so each one ends with something you have built. Every lesson carries a worked example and a practice task โ€” the practice is the course, the reading is only the setup. Plan for 7 weeks ยท about 7 hours a week.

The full syllabus โ€” every lesson, its example and its practice task โ€” is in the Course curriculum below. Nothing is locked and nothing needs an account.

Your weekly routine

  • Three sessions a week of 2โ€“3 hours, each ending with something that renders.
  • Read the browser console after every change โ€” React tells you exactly which prop or key is wrong.
  • One hour a week reading your own components and deleting code that does nothing.

What you will have built by the end

  • A live job-board or movie explorer that fetches a real API, with search and a detail page
  • A multi-step form with validation that you can reset and submit, deployed and linked
  • A README and live URL you can open in an interview and walk through

Where this leads for a fresher

  • Front-end developer or React trainee roles
  • Full-stack trainee positions where the UI is React
  • Freelance and internship work building dashboards and landing pages
  • Product-company interviews that ask you to build a small UI on a call

Titles vary between companies; the evidence does not. A deployed project, a set of queries you can explain, or a case study with real testing behind it is what a fresher interview has to work with.

Frequently asked questions

How much JavaScript do I need before starting?

Functions, arrays with map and filter, objects, and the idea of a promise. If you can write a function that takes an array and returns a filtered one, you are ready. The course uses those four things constantly and teaches nothing else about JavaScript.

React, Angular or Vue?

React has the largest number of fresher job posts and the most tutorials, so it is the safest first framework. The component model transfers to the others; what does not transfer is pretending to have three frameworks at surface level.

Is this course free?

Yes. Every lesson, example and practice task is free to read, and every tool this course points at on the Career Portal is free to use.

Will one deployed project be enough?

One good project with a live link, a clean README and a bug you can narrate is worth more than five half-finished ones. If you want to know how your current project reads to a hiring team, the free Career Pulse check scores project evidence as part of readiness.

Not sure which of these you need first? The free Career Pulse check scores your skills, communication and goal clarity in about three minutes and tells you which gap to close first. Take the free check.
