What you will learn

  • Deliver a 90-second self-introduction that mentions the role you want and one piece of evidence
  • Speak at a pace an interviewer can follow, and use a pause instead of a filler sound
  • Answer any behavioural question with a structure rather than a wandering story
  • Describe your own project so a non-technical listener follows the problem, the decision and the result
  • Set up a phone or video interview so the first two minutes are not spent fixing the microphone
  • Write a follow-up email that reads professional without sounding desperate

Course curriculum

Module 3Calls, follow-ups and offers3 of 53 lessons

Week 5 โ€” everything around the interview. Small, cheap and disproportionately important.

  1. Phone and video setup that does not cost you the round

Find a quiet place, charge the phone, keep notes on one page where you can glance at them, and turn off notifications. Two minutes of preparation removes ninety percent of the reasons a call goes badly.

Example Joining a video call from a moving bus with a blurred camera loses the round before the first question. Joining from a still room with earphones does not cost anything and is entirely within your control.

Practice Run one full mock call with a friend on the same device you will use, and fix every problem you find in advance.

  2. Emailing a recruiter without sounding desperate

Four lines: the reference number and role, one line on why you fit, one attachment, one line of thanks. Anything longer is not read, and "kindly do the needful" reads as a template to everybody who receives fifty of them.

Example A business-style greeting, a clear subject line with the role and reference number, and a file named Firstname_Lastname_Resume.pdf instead of resume_final_new.pdf. Details like the filename are noticed.

Practice Write and send one real follow-up email for a job you actually applied to, with the resume renamed properly.

  3. The first offer conversation

Thank them, ask for the details in writing, and ask one question about the role rather than the money first. You do not have to accept on the call, and saying you will confirm tomorrow is entirely professional.

Example "Thank you, I am glad. Could you share the offer in writing, and could you tell me what the first three months look like?" keeps the conversation warm and gets you time to think.

Practice Rehearse that call out loud three times so the sentences are ready on the day you actually receive one.

About Spoken English & Interview Communication

Say what you did, clearly, in English, to a stranger โ€” in the interview, on the phone and in the follow-up email.

Any graduate who can read and write English comfortably but freezes when speaking it. Also for candidates who clear the technical rounds and lose the HR round, which is the single most common way a good fresher is rejected.

What you will be able to do at the end

  • Deliver a 90-second self-introduction that mentions the role you want and one piece of evidence
  • Speak at a pace an interviewer can follow, and use a pause instead of a filler sound
  • Answer any behavioural question with a structure rather than a wandering story
  • Describe your own project so a non-technical listener follows the problem, the decision and the result
  • Set up a phone or video interview so the first two minutes are not spent fixing the microphone
  • Write a follow-up email that reads professional without sounding desperate

How the course is structured

3 modules and 9 lessons, arranged so each one ends with something you have built. Every lesson carries a worked example and a practice task โ€” the practice is the course, the reading is only the setup. Plan for 5 weeks ยท about 4 hours a week, most of it out loud.

The full syllabus โ€” every lesson, its example and its practice task โ€” is in the Course curriculum below. Nothing is locked and nothing needs an account.

Your weekly routine

  • Four 45-minute sessions a week, of which at least thirty minutes is speaking out loud.
  • One recorded mock interview a week, listened to once.
  • Read one news article aloud daily โ€” five minutes, slowly, endings said properly.

What you will have built by the end

  • A recorded 90-second introduction you are happy to send to a friend
  • Your project written as problem, decision, mistake and result, and told in under two minutes
  • Three prepared behavioural stories with a stated result, plus one real follow-up email sent

Where this leads for a fresher

  • Any role with an HR or managerial round, which is most of them
  • Customer-facing support and sales roles
  • Roles with an English assessment as part of the hiring test
  • Interviews conducted by a panel rather than one person

Titles vary between companies; the evidence does not. A deployed project, a set of queries you can explain, or a case study with real testing behind it is what a fresher interview has to work with.

Frequently asked questions

My English is not perfect. Will that disqualify me?

For most fresher roles, no โ€” being understood is the bar, not sounding like a newsreader. What does disqualify candidates is going silent, rambling without a structure, or answering a question with one word. All three are habits, and all three are fixed here.

Do I need a partner to practise with?

It helps, and recording yourself covers most of it. A phone recorder lets you hear the fillers and the rushed sentences that you cannot notice while speaking, and re-recording is the practice.

Is this course free?

Yes. Every lesson and practice task is free, and the AI mock-interview tool on the Career Portal is free to use as a practice partner.

Is communication really scored, or is it just advice?

It is scored, explicitly, in the free Career Pulse check โ€” communication is one of the areas it measures, separately from knowledge. Plenty of candidates with good marks fail it, and that is worth knowing before the real interview rather than after.

Not sure which of these you need first? The free Career Pulse check scores your skills, communication and goal clarity in about three minutes and tells you which gap to close first. Take the free check.
